Program Activities

Important School Dates to Remember:

• August 4th & 5th – From these dates provided, mentors only need to attend one meet n greet session. Both dates will consist of the same training/ agenda.
• September 8th - School begins on this day
• September 11th-Juniors will be taking the ACT practice exam and will be required to stay until 2:00pm. Junior mentors must attend the Multi-Education program from 9:00am-10:00am or one of the Mentor Meet n Greets in August. Junior mentors will need to pick his/her mentee at 2:00pm. Please call the office if you have any questions.   
• September 13th- Tutoring days and time have been changed. OJS will provide tutoring Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00pm-6:30pm. All students are invited to attend any portion of time during tutoring hours, but students in the Academic Improvement Program (AIP or Pre-AIP) must attend tutoring for at least one and a half (1.5) hours.
• November 17th & 20th- The Cultural event will consist of two parts. There will be an educational workshop on 11/17 regarding the symphony and its components; it will be instructed by one of our mentors. Or you can attend the lecture on the symphony at 7:00pm prior to the show on 11/20. You MUST attend either the educational workshop or the lecture before the show, but you do not have to attend both. Please call the office if you have any questions or concerns.  
• November 25h -26th - Thanksgiving Holiday for students
• December 20st -December 31st - Winter Recess for students (Students in year-round (track B) middle schools will be on recess from November 24th-December 31st)
• December 24th- January 3rd – OJS office will be closed for the Holidays
