The College Access Mentoring Program (CAMP) is Operation Jump Start’s flagship program, beginning when a student enters 8th grade and currently serves 70-75 students annually. This involved and extensive 5-year program pairs students with dedicated volunteer mentors to provide positive role models actively involved in the community. OJS mentors and staff offer OJS students the opportunity to participate in a variety of community outreach and extracurricular experiences while encouraging civic engagement.
By the time an OJS student reaches high school graduation, he/she will receive a minimum of 360 hours of individual mentoring, 150 hours of enrichment programming, 15 hours of educational case management, 70 hours of SAT preparation classes, tutoring, social work counseling, optional enrichment programming, cultural, and social events. College preparedness workshops will also be available to our students to augment the guidance and support of mentors. These workshops offer guidance on subjects such as choosing a college, public speaking and presentation skills, writing personal statements, and financial aid and scholarship information.
